NSW transport minister to resolve shorts issue

Newly minted NSW Transport Minister David Elliott is unhappy with his department chiefs over the refusal to allow rail staff to wear shorts.

Many employees have long been lobbying to be able to wear short pants to work – claiming long pants become unbearable during hot summer days.

The demand for the uniform change is contained in a 14-page claims log the Rail, Tram and Bus Union has put to the government as it seeks to improve conditions for members.
