Omicron death in Australia: NSW records its first COVID-19 death linked to the new variant

New South Wales has recorded its first COVID-19 death linked to the Omicron variant.

A total of 6324 new infections – a drop of 70 from a day earlier – were diagnosed from more than 97,000 tests on Sunday, with the state also reporting another three deaths.
