Victoria is set to increase access to COVID rapid antigen tests to ease testing pressure after a heatwave led to the closure of some PCR sites.

High temperatures caused eight sites to shut on Saturday as people waited in long queues.

Some Victorians are reportedly waiting up to four days for their COVID results.

Authorities say there has been 'unprecedented demand' on the testing system throughout the past week.

Early Childhood Minister Ingrid Stitt says changes will be announced by the Health Minister in the coming days.
