Morrison distances federal government from responsibility for RATs shortage

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has attempted to distance the federal government from responsibility for the shortage of rapid antigen test kits.

He said the states could have acted last November to boost supplies.

"It was discussed at National Cabinet in November," Mr Morrison said during a press conference on Thursday.

"It's the same rules that apply for PCR tests - states secure the supplies for PCR tests, and for RAT tests ... they'd be supplying for their own purposes in whatever state has always been a matter for the states - so there was no confusion."
