Independent schools have expressed frustration at the government's controversial religious discrimination bill – asking for more time to consider how it would be enforced.

A second day of public hearings is underway after the bill was referred to a joint committee on human rights.

It seeks to protect people of faith from discrimination at work, school and daily life by allowing religious bodies to act in accordance with their beliefs without being penalised for discrimination.
