The federal government will spend 24 million dollars expanding telehealth consultations through GPs and specialists as the Omicron outbreak grows.

The money will also go towards the supply of masks, face shields and gowns for face-to-face appointments.

Health Minister Greg Hunt says telehealth has changed the way doctors interact with their patients.
