Queensland drops plans to extend school year

The Queensland government has yielded to union demands and backflipped on plans to extend the school year.

“I am satisfied that the full curriculum can now be delivered in the condensed semester," Queensland Education Minister Grace Grace said.

An extension of term four was previously announced by the government, angering unions and teachers with prearranged holiday plans.

The state's school year will now end on December 9 as originally planned.
