Federal government ‘should back’ new JobSaver plan expected for NSW

Former Liberal MP Fiona Scott says the federal government should back the new JobSaver plan expected for New South Wales.

It comes as Sky News revealed the New South Wales government is expected to announce its new JobSaver program as early as Tuesday.

Small businesses with a 40 or 50 per cent drop in turnover over the Christmas period will receive grants in terms of a percentage of their payroll.

It is understood the state has requested the federal government to split the bill 50-50.

"I think the federal government should back the New South Wales government plan," Ms Scott told Sky News Australia.

Ms Scott also said the same 50-50 deal should be offered across all states and territories.
