NSW COVID case update: State hits one millionth COVID case amid concerns for an Australia Day spread

NSW has recorded more than 21,000 new cases of COVID, taking the state beyond the one million mark since the beginning of the pandemic.

As Australia Day public holiday celebrations and protests take place amid extended restrictions, 2794 people are in hospital with the virus, 175 of those in ICU.
