Latest Newspoll reveals ‘deterioration’ in the national mood

The latest Newspoll results reveal a deterioration in the national mood which clearly shows a lot of frustration and anger directed at the government, says The Australian’s Canberra Bureau Chief Joe Kelly.

The Coalition’s primary vote fell by two points to 34 per cent, according to the latest Newspoll figures published in The Australian.

Labor leads the Coalition 56-44 in the two-party-preferred (TPP) stakes, while Scott Morrison now only holds a slim two-point leader over his counterpart Anthony Albanese in terms of preferred Prime Minister.

"That's clear in the figures," Mr Kelly told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.
