The Media Show host Jack Houghton says the ABC has only been asking tough questions to “one side of politics” ahead of the federal election.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison spoke at the National Press Club in Canberra on Tuesday, a week after Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese gave an address.

Mr Houghton highlighted the “conduct of the ABC reporters,” namely Andrew Probyn and Laura Tingle, at the two speeches.

“You get two extremely different scenarios,” Mr Houghton told Sky News Australia.

Mr Houghton said the reporters had asked “tough questions” of the Prime Minister, but not of the Opposition leader.

“I believe very much that journalists should be able to have robust conversations, the problem is they’ve clearly picked a winner, and they’re only asking tough questions to one side of politics.

“That is a big problem - we expect our taxpayer-funded national broadcaster to be down the line and without question these two cases … they’re not down the line.”
