Morrison government pledges $800 bonus payment for aged care staff

Aged care workers will be among the first to benefit from the government's pre-election spending blitz. 

Prime Minister Scott Morrison will address the National Press Club today, promising $209 million in cash bonuses for aged care workers. 

Australia's 234,000 residential aged care staff will be eligible for two pro-rata payments of up to $400. 

The first will be made this month with the second to be paid in May - just as voters are expected to head to the polls. 

Mr Morrison will also unveil a $2.2 billion fund for university research and the commercialisation of Australian ideas.

Aged care workers will be among the first to benefit from the government’s pre-election spending blitz.
