QCoal’s Byerwen coal mine operations on hold after death of second worker in a month

The “disheartening and concerning” death of a second worker at a north Queensland coal mine has sparked a pause on operations.

The man, reported to be aged 56, died when a haul truck ran over a smaller vehicle at QCoal’s Byerwen site at Suttor, west of Mackay, on Thursday about 1pm.
