Music megastar Sir Elton John has opened up about a “severe” infection he recently battled in private that has impacted his eyes – that often look out of dazzling and eccentric specs.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” the 77-year-old shared in a statement on Instagram Tuesday.
“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”
The legendary singer went on to offer thanks to his “excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family.”

He said husband David Furnish and their sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11 have taken great care of him over the last several weeks.”
Elton has spent the summer “recuperating at home” and is feeling positive about the progress “I have made in my healing and recovery thus far.”
The musician ended the update with a sign-off of “love and gratitude.”
The ‘Rocketman’ singer has suffered multiple health issues in recent years including when he took a break from his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour due to a fall.
He decided to have hip surgery before getting back on the road.
In a statement at the time, he said: “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am forced to reschedule the 2021 dates of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Europe and the UK to 2023′, with the tour pegged to recommence in New Orleans in January 2022.
“At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since.

“Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving.”
Back in July 2021 Elton had to postpone a selection of dates from his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour again, due to Covid-19.
In 2017 the singer contracted an infection following treatment for prostate cancer and underwent surgery, revealing in his autobiography that he was “24 hours from death.”
Despite all he has endured in his life, Elton is still standing.
