Two boys, aged 9 and 11, have been found dead in a home at Faulconbridge in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.

The boys bodies were found by a family member.

Police say officers were called to the home in Faulconbridge just before 1pm today.

A 42-year-old woman, believed to be the mother of the boys, is under police guard in Westmead Hospital in a stable condition and the ABC is reporting she has a number of self inflicted stab wounds.

Police are not looking for anyone else and say there is no threat to the community.
