Emmanuel Macron visits cyclone-wrecked Mayotte as death toll expected to rise

France’s President Emmanuel Macron travelled on Thursday to the Indian Ocean archipelago of Mayotte to survey the devastation that Cyclone Chido wrought across the French territory over the weekend, with thousands of people trying to cope without bare essentials such as water or electricity.
