AFL great Nicky Winmar faces court over shock charges of alleged abuse

Famous for standing up to abuse, St Kilda legend Nicky Winmar is now accused of abuse himself.

The 59-year-old has been charged with intentionally choking, strangling or suffocating a woman known to him, as well as assaulting her without lawful excuse.
