A 42-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a 50-year-old man in Brisbane’s inner suburb of West End over the weekend.
Emergency services were called to a unit complex on Ryan Street around 4:30am on Saturday after a man had been found unconscious.
Paramedics and police arrived to find the West End man unresponsive with critical injuries.
He was later declared dead at the scene.
On Sunday night, detectives arrested and charged a Fortitude Valley man with one count of murder.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
Police allege the accused was known to people living at the unit complex where the incident occurred.
Detective Inspector Wayne Francis praised the public for assisting the investigation.
“Information provided by the community was crucial,” he said.
“It led to the arrest after an intensive investigation by detectives, intelligence officers, forensic police and first responders.”
