Firefighter killed in Bulahdelah blaze as Anthony Albanese and Chris Minns pay respects

A firefighter has become the first fatality of the bushfire season after being struck by a tree.

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) said it happened while the firefighter was working to contain a bushfire at Bulahdelah, north of Newcastle, about 11pm on Sunday.
