Political, religious and community leaders gathered in Brisbane on the final night of Hanukkah to mourn the victims of last week’s deadly antisemitic attack at Bondi Beach and to issue a united call against extremism and hatred in Australia.
The memorial, held at Brisbane City Hall, honoured 15 people killed in the attack, including 10-year-old Matilda, whose family had migrated from Ukraine and named her after what they believed was “the most Australian name” they could choose.
