Powerful microburst strikes Gold Coast, causing tower crane collapse and power outages

A sudden and powerful microburst swept through Southport on Thursday afternoon, causing significant damage including the partial collapse of a tower crane and multiple downed power lines.

Emergency services were called to the Gold Coast Highway about 3.15pm after reports of the damage.
