Earlier on January 29 a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of the Arnhem and Carpentaria districts, including Mataranka, Beswick and Barunga, causing Northern Territory Emergency Services to issue a Watch and Act Alert, warning that there was a “heightened level of threat”.
