It’s a traveller’s nightmare: you’ve landed at your destination, but your suitcase hasn’t. Unfortunately, it’s a common complaint for frequent fliers, although the good news is that issues with lost cases are down from its peak in 2022. Still, a recent SITA Baggage Insights Report shows that as of early 2025, the global baggage mishandling rate is approximately 7.6 bags per 1,000 passengers, with Europe the worst-performing region at 12.3 mishandled bags per 1,000 passengers.
