Michael lived for his work. He was filled with such a profusion of ideas and could express himself in every medium: ink, paint, collage, words, fashion and photography. As Anna Wintour tells me: ‘What mattered to him was his eye, his creativity, the way he could see things clearly and sort the world – rather ruthlessly sometimes – by taste. That meant he could be wonderfully wicked, which I loved, and so brilliantly biting, too.’
