At last night’s Met Gala, where “Fashion Is Art” was the dress code, many of the looks meditated on the connection between clothes and the body. For some attendees, this meant literally wearing depictions of the human form—100 points to Michael Braun, who wore Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring-summer 1996 “Muscle” jacket. The watches on display, meanwhile, seemed to buck the stripped-back theme entirely: the wilder, blingier, and more outrageous the better.
