As of Monday 28 September, seagoers travelling between the UK and Ireland must present a valid passport or Irish passport card to board a ferry.
Previously, travellers were not always required to show a valid passport and were often allowed to board ferries between Britain and Ireland with some form of photo ID. This offered a travel hack for those without a passport, opening up our neighbouring country’s stunning landscapes at short notice for those willing to travel by sea.
