Thousands of scam texts and calls blocked

Thousands of scam calls and messages, which appear as if they are from a government agency, have been stopped from reaching potential victims across the country. A 12 month pilot program by the federal government blocked 2,500 scam texts during that time. Communications Minister Paul Fletcher told Sky News Australia the trial which blocked the messages is now in operation and working “very effectively”. “We’ve proven it to work, and this is about giving Australians greater confidence in texts that are coming in.”
